OSD Celebrates New Additions with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Ribbon-cutting ceremony for Della Davidson Elementary’s new addition
Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford School District administrators and the Board of Trustees proudly celebrated the completion of Della Davidson Elementary School’s addition and the newly renovated Oxford Early Childhood Center with official ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Monday, January 27th, 2025.
The new addition to Della Davidson Elementary School (DDES) not only houses four new classrooms, but it also includes a new private space for interventionists and additional storage room. Perhaps most notably, this addition was built as a tornado shelter. It is capable of accommodating the entire school population in the event of a severe weather situation.
Ribbon-cutting ceremony for Oxford Early Childhood Center’s renovation
The renovation of Oxford Early Childhood Center (OECC) reimagined the space where our youngest learners — 3K and 4K students — can grow and learn.
The OECC gym is newly renovated, offering a reenvisioned space for our early childhood students. Additionally, there is a new outdoor learning space and updated playground equipment. Interior renovations were made to each classroom and hallway for the spaces to be more welcoming and functional. The exterior of the building was given a brighter look with a new shade of paint. Lastly, the cafeteria and kitchen have been completely reimagined to a vibrant and inviting space.
We extend our heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the incredible addition to Della Davidson Elementary School and the renovation to Oxford Early Childhood Center possible.
These projects would not have been accomplished with the unwavering support of the Oxford School District Board of Trustees, the leadership of Superintendent Bradley Roberson, Chief Operations Officer Dr. Steve Hurdle, and the staff and administrators of both Della Davidson Elementary School and Oxford Early Childhood Center.
A special thanks to the outstanding team of architects, construction crew, and workers who transformed these spaces. To Oxford School District families and community members, we thank you for your continuous support for our students and schools – we are grateful for these new spaces where children can learn, grow, and flourish for years to come.
